Redbox Review: It’s Awesome
Entertainment, Super Qeeper! March 18th, 2008
I promised I would tell you how my free Redbox rental went from this post so here it is. This past monday I got my first free rental text message. I stopped by Albertsons on my way home and the “red box” was near the front entrance. There’s supposed to be from 70-140 movies available for rent. I just remember scrolling through about 6 pages of movies. They are pretty much all new releases and they had all the major titles (300, american gangster, ratatouille, atonement etc) and even some not so major titles. In fact, the one I ended up renting was one I had never even heard of: Trade - a movie about human trafficking. It got pretty bad reviews, but I thought it was thought provoking and entertaining. Of course parts of the story were lame, but overall, I liked it. It’s definitely worth the regular price of renting it, $1, but with my coupon it was free!
Anyways, to rent movies you punch in the code that they texted you but you still need to insert your credit card for security reasons. It was quick and painless. They have an option to email you the receipt which I promptly got. The next day I returned the movie and promptly got another receipt confirming my return. You can keep the movie as long as you want but it’s $1 for each day.
Overall, I LOVED redbox and I totally recommend you try it out since they are offering those free rentals every monday. Even without the coupon, it’s only $1 and located at grocery stores so it’s convenient. THUMBS UP!

Be careful of Redbox because their rental boxes are not secure - My debit card information was captured by someone and movies were rented and never returned and my account was debited. The Union City, Ga., site is defintely not secure - I have been charged 6 times for movies I’ve never seen or rented. That’s a total of $148.26 deducted from my account and Redbox is convinced that I rented them, even though I proved to them that I didn’t, with bank account information, emails from them confirming all movies rented were returned and an inventory of the box. But they still kept my money. It’s a gimmick - don’t do it.
